Multipoint Control Units (MCU)

A Multipoint Control Unit (MCU) allows multiple sites to participate in the same videoconference. UVa has a pair of Codian 4205 units which provide services for a total of over 20 sites (more if a streaming model is used).

These units provide a Web control interface, dynamic screen layouts, streaming, and connection modes which do not depend on registration to the local gatekeeper.

Gatekeeper

UVa also has a Cisco-based gatekeeper which provides use of the Global Dialing Scheme (GDS) to endpoints that register on it.
