  Computing Policies & Procedures
blue rule

The University of Virginia and ITC suggest that you become familiar with the rules and policies that govern the University computing environment. Any violation of computing policies at the University may result in having the privileges that are provided to you, as a University affiliate, such as access to all computing accounts, revoked.

The policies are in place to protect you and your rights, within the University environment. The policies cover topics such as ethical computer use; network and Internet etiquette; security issues; dissemination of obscene materials; and copyright policies. Since the University is a state-supported school, some of the policies that you are required to adhere to are state mandated and could lead to legal disciplinary action.

It is important that you carefully review the following pages. You should pay close attention to all of the policies that govern the University's computing environment. As a computer resource person, you should make sure that others in your department are aware of these Policies and Procedures and any potential consequences of misuse.
