Your electronic files and web pages

[Jul 17, 2008 14:02] The feature in Xpressions that notifies a user by email when they receive a voice mail is currently not working. Siemens is aware of the problem and is working on it. This does not affect any other aspect of Xpressions.

Scan the answers to the frequently-asked questions below to learn about the disposition of the electronic files and web pages you have created at U.Va.
I have files stored on UVa computers that I want to keep. What should I do?
Before your account at UVa expires, you must move your files to your own storage. To learn about a variety of digital storage alternatives, please visit /students/leaving/savingfiles.html.
I have research data that I share with my professor who will still be here. May I keep my account?
Only current members of the UVa community are entitled to have accounts. Before your account expires, you must move the research data to your professor's account, to your own account on another Internet Service Provider, or to portable storage media. ITC does not normally give access to your account to others, even after you leave.
I have files that have been used by my office on my account. May my account stay open so that my replacement can use these files?
Accounts are assigned to individuals and you should not allow anyone else, including your replacement, to have access to your account. Before you leave, you should transfer these files to your supervisor's or manager's account for safekeeping until your replacement arrives.
What will happen to my personal web page at U.Va.?
Since your web page consists of one or more files on your account, when the account expires, your web page will no longer exist. If you want to continue to maintain a presence on the web, you will need to make arrangements with an Internet Service Provider for this capability.
What will happen to my email messages and aliases?
All messages, aliases, etc. on an account are removed from the system when the account expires and you will no longer have access to them. You must move them before the account expires. You should notify your correspondents of your new address before your account expires: messages that are delivered after your account expires will be returned to their sender with a 'user unknown' message.
