Security Tip of the Day

Be wary of revealing personal information on the Internet

Social online networks like Facebook and MySpace tempt people into revealing too much information about their whereabouts, their habits, and their physical attributes. Don?t be a victim of TMI.

  • Limit who can see your profile. You can do this with a selected list or by network.
  • Pretend that you are revealing this info to someone you met on the street. Would you tell a stranger your personal information?
  • Be aware that information posted to the Internet can exist for years and be an embarrassment or encumbrance to you for many years.
