UVa Default Configuration

For the UVa computing environment, Identity Finder has been configured to search for sensitive data as comprehensively as possible. The table below describes the UVa configuration settings. If you have any questions about these settings, please contact the Information Technology Security group.

Setting Effect
Always start in Advanced Mode Program opens to main application window.
Search for SSN, CC, and Bank Account Program will search for these matches.
Search My Computer Program will search all items in My Computer including hard drives and attached media, not network drives.
Search for Files, Compressed Files, Attachments, Email Messages, and Hidden Web Data Program will search through these items for sensitive data.
Logging - Create a new log every search Program will uniquely name and create a log file for each search.
Logging - Enable Encryption Program will encrypt the log file.
Display - Unchecked Restrict the Number of ID matches per location Program will display all matches found per file.
File Search - Added .ntx and "." file types Program will search for Clipper Database files and files with no extension (not available until version 3.4)
File Search - Unchecked Search Only Files Less Than This Size Program will not limit search based on size of the file.
AnyFind - Always Search for unformatted SSN Program will find SSN's as raw number strings.
AnyFind - Use Custom Keyword to find unformatted SSNs

AnyFind - Only Find Unformatted SSNs if location contains at least this many: "1" Program will find SSNs even if there is only one in a location.
Logging - Information to include in logs: Items Searched, Matching Items, Secure Items Skipped, Actions & Messages, and Errors Program will include this information in the log files.
E-Mail - Search Remote Email Folders - Disabled Program will NOT search Exchange or CMS remote folders.
File Search - Uncheck When Searching "My Computer", include mapped network drives Program will NOT search any currently mapped drives.
