Scanning Process
UVa Faculty, Teaching Assistants (TAs), and Staff (not in the School of Medicine)

Pick up blank bubble sheets Monday through Friday, 8AM–5PM
(University holidays excepted) at either:
- the ITC Help Desk (2015 Ivy Road) or
- the Carruthers Hall ITC Quality Assurance Window or
- the Hospital West Copy Center.
- Give your exam; pay special attention to the proper bubble sheet marking and handling instructions.
- Drop off your Scantron forms with your completed scanning
request form at the Carruthers Hall ITC Quality Assurance Window, Monday
through Friday, 8AM–5PM (University holidays excepted).
- Do not drop off sheets to be scanned at the ITC Help Desk.
- Bubble sheets are not accepted for scanning via Messenger Mail.
- Wait approximately one business day for your bubble sheets to be scanned. The exam owner will receive an email notification when their exam has been scanned.
- Click the link in the notification email to access the scanned data through the secure online Scan&Score application. Log in through the NetBadge interface.
- View student grades, create result subsets, view exam statistics, and modify the answer key as needed. See Scan&Score instructions.
- Pick up your forms from the Carruthers Hall ITC Quality Assurance Window within 10 business days or they will be recycled. They cannot be returned via Messenger Mail.
School of Medicine Professors and Course Directors

Email Patti Reynard and/or
Lucille Bland in the Office of
Medical Education (OME) to arrange a time to drop off
exams to be scanned.
- Do not drop off sheets to be scanned at the ITC Help Desk.

Scanning Results
Please note that results are only posted for faculty viewing. In order for students to view their scores, faculty must post the results to the Instructional Toolkit and/or UVaCollab.
Exam scores remain available through the Scan&Score application for two years.
