THE ITC
BUILDING REWIRING PROJECT
The ITC Network Infrastructure Project is a major effort on the part of the Department of Information Technology and Communication to improve the communications infrastructure at the University of Virginia. It is a five year project involving the connection of all major academic, administrative, and medical buildings on Central and North Grounds to a new fiber optic backbone. The second phase of the Network Infrastructure Project, the Building Rewiring Project, involves the installation of new standard cable and connections within each building, capable of supporting telephone, data communications, and video.
