SPSS Data Entry is software that provides tools for creating interactive online questionnaires or data entry applications. The software employs a Visual Basic-like graphical environment and permits users to include a variety of input validation rules in data collection efforts. The visual environment of Data Entry integrates with the data files and back-end facilities of the standard SPSS statistical analysis package.
Faculty, staff and students at the University of Virginia may access Data Entry in two different ways: in ITC Labs, or on your own machine.
1. ITC Computer LabsIn all ITC computer labs, Data Entry Builder 1.0.4 is installed on Microsoft Windows machines. For a list of all labs and locations, visit the ITC Labs and Classrooms webpage.2. Acquire a copy for your own computer(s)
Data Entry comes with the site-licensed version of SPSS. You can obtain the most recent version of Data Entry (version 1.0.4) on the SPSS version 10.0 CD-ROM. Faculty or staff of the University who have an office in Charlottesville where they work at least twice a week may purchase the site-licensed version of SPSS 10.0 (containing Data Entry) at Cavalier Computers. This site-licensed version is for home or office use and may only be used while you are employed by UVA.
Graduate and undergraduate students may purchase a copy of the Graduate Pack version of SPSS. The Graduate Pack version is sold only to students and is their copy to keep and can be taken with them when they leave the University. Graduate students who are putting SPSS on a University of Virginia computer in an office at UVa may get a copy of the site license version from Cavalier Computers.
In ITC public labs, Data Entry can be found in the SPSS program group under the Windows Start button.

On the web:Manuals: You can check out a Data Entry manual on a short-term basis from the ITC Statistical Computing Consultant at the Help Desk in Room 235 of Wilson Hall. You can also purchase SPSS manuals on-line directly from SPSS, Inc. via the SPSS bookstore.
