Installation Instructions for S-PLUS 6.0 Standalone Version on Windows

 

If you will be installing S-PLUS as a user with Administrative privileges, then you can install S-PLUS in a Common Folder accessible by all users of the machine.  Otherwise you will be installing S-PLUS in a Personal Program Folder accessible only by you.

 

After obtaining the serial number from the licensing database, run setup.exe from the S-PLUS CD if the startup program does not begin automatically.

 

 

 

 

 

On the first dialog window, select Next



 

 

Read the Workstation License Agreement and Limited Warranty.  If you agree, then select Yes.



 

 

 

Enter your actual first and last name for user name,  University of Virginia for Company Name and the serial number obtained during the licensing process.  Then select Next.



 

 

 

If you are unsure about your Setup Type requirements then leave Typical selected and click on Next.



 

 

C:\Program Files\Insightful\splus6 is the standard folder location for S-PLUS 6.0.  Unless you need to install SPLUS elsewhere, choose Next.



 

 

 

Choose Next if you are satisfied with the default Destination Folder.  Otherwise, browse to the desired folder location, then choose Next.



 

 

 

 

 

Select Next, unless you need to change the desired Folder Type.



 

 

 

 

Choose Next, unless you need to change the Program Folder.





 

 

Select the options to enable and choose Next.  If you are not pleased with these selections later on, you will be able to reconfigure them from within SPLUS later on.





 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Now the S-PLUS Setup will begin to install files. 



 

 

 

Choose Next.

 

 

 

It is advisable to check for updates to the program online for any recent patches or related information.  The release notes is a good resource for SPLUS help and information, and you may want to bookmark the notes for future reference.

 

 

 

In this case, after browsing to the Download Center to check for updates,  we are informed that the software is up-to-date.
