SAS and
SPSS Site License Restrictions
ITC has a site license for both SAS and SPSS. Under this arrangement, ITC bears
the cost of the licensing fees and distribution and the software is made available
for free. The site licenses covers the use of SAS by faculty, staff and students
and the use of SPSS by faculty and staff.
Either before or when you
get a copy of the software, you must complete an End User License Agreement (EULA). The licensing
and renewal of the statistical packages can be completed via the web by going to our
Licensing Statistical
Software webpage.
The details of the site-license restrictions are as follows:
- Faculty and Staff: If you are faculty or staff of the University
AND have an office in Charlottesville where you work at least twice a week,
you may obtain the site-licensed version of SPSS or SAS for home or office
use. The site-licensed version may only be used while you are employed by
UVA. You may obtain the site licensed version from the Research Computing
Support Center (RCSC; 244 Wilson; phone: 243-8800). Information about all
software that is available at the RCSC is on our
Software Distribution webpage.
- Students: If you are a graduate or undergraduate student,
you may obtain the site-licensed copy of SAS from the ITC Research Computing
Support Center, (RCSC; 244 Wilson; phone: 243-8800) or a copy of the Graduate
Pack versions of SPSS (from Cavalier Computers). The SPSS Graduate Pack is
sold only to students and is their copy to keep and can be taken with them
when they leave the University. Graduate students who are putting SPSS on
a University of Virginia computer in an office at UVa may get a copy of the
site license version from the Research Computing Support Center. Information
about all software that is available at the RCSC is on our
Software Distribution webpage.
