SAS 9.1.3 Operating System Requirements

 

Special Update for Windows Vista Users.

A number of users have inquired about the requirements for using SAS on the Windows Vista platform. SAS began supporting a subset of its products on Vista at the end of July 2007.


SAS 9.1.3 SP4 supports 3 of the 5 Windows Vista editions for 32-bit editions only. The following versions are targeted at the business market:

  • * Windows Vista Business
  • * Windows Vista Enterprise - available only to Microsoft Enterprise Agreement customers
  • * Windows Vista Ultimate

SAS 9.1.3 SP4 does NOT support the editions targeted at the consumer market. These editions include Windows Vista Home Premium and Windows Vista Home Basic.

SAS 9.1.3.SP4 does not support Windows Vista 64-bit editions at this time.

As with earlier versions of SAS 9.x, do NOT attempt to install SAS 9.1.3 on Windows XP Home Edition.
  SAS 9.1.3 is supported on Windows XP Professional updated with at least Service Pack 1.

 

In addition to Vista as specified, here is the list of additional Operating Systems that ARE compatible with SAS 9.1.3 for Windows:

Microsoft Windows x64 Family
SAS 9.1.3 Foundation is supported on the following operating systems in the Microsoft Windows x64
family:
• Microsoft® Windows® XP Professional x64 Edition
• Microsoft® Windows® Server 2003, Standard x64 Edition
• Microsoft® Windows® Server 2003, Enterprise x64 Edition
• Microsoft® Windows® Server 2003, Datacenter x64 Edition


Microsoft Windows Server 2003 Family
SAS 9.1.3 Foundation is supported on all 32-bit operating systems in the Microsoft Windows Server
2003 family:
• Microsoft® Windows® Server 2003, Standard Edition
• Microsoft® Windows® Server 2003, Enterprise Edition
• Microsoft® Windows® Server 2003, Datacenter Edition


Microsoft Windows XP
SAS 9.1.3 Foundation is supported on Windows XP Professional updated with at least Service Pack 1.


Microsoft Windows 2000 Family
SAS 9.1.3 Foundation must be updated with Service Pack 3, and is supported on these operating
systems in the Microsoft Windows 2000 family:
• Microsoft® Windows® 2000 Professional
• Microsoft® Windows® 2000 Server
• Microsoft® Windows® 2000 Advanced Server
• Microsoft® Windows® 2000 Datacenter Server

Microsoft Windows NT Family
SAS 9.1.3 Foundation requires Windows NT, Version 4.0 updated with Service Pack 6a or higher, and
is supported on these operating systems in the Microsoft Windows NT family:
• Microsoft® Windows® NT Workstation 4.0
• Microsoft® Windows® NT Server 4.0
• Microsoft® Windows® NT Server 4.0 Enterprise Edition
• Microsoft® Windows® NT Server 4.0 Terminal Server
File System Recommendations:
• The use of file systems supporting long filenames is required.
• For Windows NT, the NTFS file partition is recommended.


Network Installations:
Long filename support is required on any Windows NT Server, Windows 2000 Server, or Novell Server where a server installation is performed.
