All potential Enterprise Guide users are advised to review the System requirements document before installation.
Note to Individuals Upgrading from Earlier
Versions: If you are upgrading from a previous release of Enterprise Guide
software, and if you have existing definitions for servers, libraries, and
users that you want to preserve, then you must back up your current repository
before uninstalling Enterprise Guide software. If you have such definitions,
then you created them by using the Administrator application, which you can run
again by selecting the Start menu, then Programs, then The SAS
System, and finally Administrator.
Installation
Before installing, obtain the Site Number from ITC's licensing database at https://www.web.virginia.edu/rescomp/ldb/login.asp This number will be needed later during the course of installation.
Close all open programs and turn off Virus Protection. Administrator privilege is required to install various system updates. To ensure that Enterprise Guide can be completely and safely installed, it is strongly recommended that the installer have administrative privilege.
Insert the CD. If your CD-ROM drive is configured for autorun, you should see a setup screen with five buttons: Validate System Requirements Wizard, Install Enterprise Guide Setup (with Administrator), Install Administrator Only, Browse Documentation and Visit SAS Technical Support on the Web. If you do not see the setup screen, click the Windows Start and select Run. Type d:\setup, where the letter d corresponds to the computer's CD-ROM drive. is the first screen you’ll see.
Select Validate System Requirements. If your system does not have the correct minimum system requirements, you will be prompted to install the appropriate additions.

Choose your setup language.


At the next screen click on Next:

In order to continue the upgrade process, you may need to reboot your system so that the upgrades can take effect.

We are not showing screenshots of the System Component Updates as they may vary from machine to machine. Follow the directions in those windows. If components need to be updated, they will be listed in a textbox window. For example, MS Jet 4.0 SP6 and MDAC 2.7 needed to be updated on one particular Windows 2000 machine. Choose Next and allow the components to be updated. If you choose not to update the various components, then it will not be possible to install Enterprise Guide on your system.
After the final reboot, Windows will take you to your typical startup desktop environment.
In order to check that the component updates were performed successfully, restart the install process by double-clicking on the icon for the SAS Enterprise CD. You should see this screen; click Finish.
Next browse to locate the CD, and when the installation menu starts up again, choose the Install Enterprise Guide (with Administrator), the second bulleted item, from the menu.

You may need to choose your setup language again:

You will be presented with an introductory dialog over the SAS setup splash screen.
Choose Next.

The site number is the number that you obtain from ITC’s licensing database:

Choose Next: to install in the default location:

Select any additional language support, and choose Next.

Choose Next again.

The installation may take several minutes. You will see the thermometer during the installation and several non-interactive boxes.
Various message boxes will appear during the installation:

The Enterprise Guide installation process prompts you for changing file suffix associations. Some are associated with SAS. Other file types may be associated with programs other than SAS. Here files ending with the .SSD extension are associated with Snagit Studio. How you choose to associate these files depends upon your individual needs and what programs you use most frequently.

Finally, you may choose Finish.
