Lyx: A graphical latex wordprocessor The LyX Latex Wordprocessor

ITC announces the installation of LyX, a high level wordprocessor that utilizes the power of the LaTeX typesetting system to speed document preparation (Version 0.12), on our AIX/RS6000 and solaris platforms. (Note: lyx has been in installed in the /contrib tree - packages in this area are not fully supported by ITC.)

Lyx provides a WYSIWYG interface to the latex package. As LyX is a graphical interface, it is only available within the X-Windows environment. To invoke LyX type:

     lyx

Existing latex documents can be converted into "lyx" format by using the reLyX.pl script. To convert the latex document, mylatex.tex, into a "lyx" document, type:

     relyx mylatex.tex

Note: As is the case with any converter, reLyX works better on some documents than others!
