DIFFERENCES BETWEEN LISREL 8.7 FOR MAC OS 9 AND X AND LISREL 8.7 FOR WINDOWS

  1. PSF Window
     * LISREL 8.7 for Windows uses a PSF window to display, manipulate 
       and process raw data in a Prelis System File (PSF).
       It is also used to import external data in formats such as 
       SAS, SPSS, MS-EXCEL, etc. as a PSF.
     * LISREL 8.7 for Mac OS 9 and X does not include a PSF window.
       Prelis System Files can be created from text raw data files by using 
       PRELIS syntax files.
       Data in external formats (except text files) cannot be imported directly.
       Prelis System Files can be processed by using PRELIS, LISREL or
       MULTILEVEL syntax files.


  2. PTH Window
     * LISREL 8.7 for Windows uses a PTH window to create, display and
       process path diagrams (PTH files).
     * LISREL 8.7 for Mac OS 9 and X does not include a PTH window.


  3. SPJ Window
     * LISREL 8.7 for Windows uses an SPJ window to create, edit and process 
       SIMPLIS project (SPJ) files.       
     * LISREL 8.7 for Mac OS 9 and X does not include an SPJ window.


  4. LPJ Window
     * LISREL 8.7 for Windows uses an LPJ window to create, edit and process 
       LISREL project (LPJ) files.       
     * LISREL 8.7 for Mac OS 9 and X does not include an LPJ window.


  5. Syntax Files
     * Most syntax files used by LISREL 8.7 for Windows should be compatible
       with LISREL 8.7 for Mac OS 9 and X. If a problem should be encountered
       in this regard, then the utility TOMAC.EXE (available at 
       ftp://ftp.lisrel.com/lisrel/mac) may be used to convert the syntax file.
     * The utility TODOS.EXE (available at ftp://ftp.lisrel.com/lisrel/mac) should 
       be used to convert LISREL 8.7 for Mac OS 9 and X syntax files to LISREL 
       8.7 for Windows syntax files.

  6. CATFIRM.EXE and CONFIRM.EXE
     * LISREL 8.7 for Windows includes the applications CATFIRM.EXE and CONFIRM.EXE
       for Formal Inference-based Recursive Modeling (FIRM) for categorical and
       continuous response variables.       
     * LISREL 8.7 for Mac OS 9 and X does not include the applications catfirm and
       confirm.
