ArcGIS Schematics is an effective and innovative solution to automate schematic and geoschematic graphical representations of ESRI ArcGIS geodatabases. ArcGIS Schematics contains many automatic network presentation algorithms. Display optimization mechanisms include offsetting overlaid objects, automatic routing, varied zooming, view cloning and duplication, automatic resizing of views, and more.

MapObjects provides the tools you need to create specialized solutions for your desktop mapping and GIS needs. With MapObjects you can

• Add mapping components to enhance existing applications.
• Build lightweight data viewing applications.
• Create customized mapping and GIS programs that fulfill specific tasks and requirements.
• Develop simple query-based applications that easily enable access to data generated by sophisticated GIS
• solutions.

  

  ArcGIS Schematics 2.2.3 Availability

  The ArcGIS Schematics CD is available for faculty, staff and students at UVA from ITC's Research Computing Center in Wilson Hall. ESRI's ArcGIS Schematics version 2.2.3 can be installed on a U.Va-owned or personal computer, but it may only be used for U.Va. related work while here at the University.

  The ArcGIS Schematics SDK is also provided with ArcGIS Schematics on a separate CD. The SDK is a developer kit for spatial network representation applications. ArcGIS Schematics SDK supports most database management systems. It allows the developer to build geo-schematic and schematic applications.

  System Requirements

  ArcInfo Schematics has both software and hardware requirements. Review the installation page for details at: http://www.itc.virginia.edu/research/esri/install/schematics.html

  An installation of ArcGIS Desktop 8.2 or ArcGIS Desktop 8.3 is required prior to installing ArcGIS Schematics.

  Since UVA's license manager for general ESRI products is hosted on a Unix machine and a Unix machine cannot host the license manager for the Schematics Extension, Research Computing supports installation of Schematics within the Single Use environment. Please note that this installation works with the license managed ArcInfo installation.
