June 14, 2005
Beginning Tuesday, June 14, U.Va.'s Web Mail interface (https://www.mail.virginia.edu/) will provide access to Central Mail Service (CMS) configuration options, as well as the addition of a new option. They are accessible from the Web Mail Settings tab, and include the following:
- Server Side Rules (NEW!) allow you to direct incoming messages to server mailboxes (folders) other than your INBOX, or to other email accounts, according to rules that you set. For instance, you could route all messages from members of a particular work group to a mailbox dedicated to that group.
- Quota displays your current storage space quota on the Central Mail Service and shows how much of it you are using.
- Change Password provides a web form you can complete to change your CMS password.
- Vacation lets you set your CMS account to notify email correspondents automatically when you are away from the office.
You can also use the new configuration options to forward your CMS mail to another system, reset and restore Mulberry client settings, and register your CMS account as your default U.Va. email account.
As of June 14th, two current avenues for accessing CMS settings will no longer be available:
- The web interface at https://config.mail.virginia.edu
- Secure login (slogin) to config.mail.virginia.edu using SecureCRT or other SSH-enabled shell program
Access to Central Mail Service settings will be possible only through the Web Mail Settings tab. The change is necessary in order to enhance security on the configuration server.
