Agenda for July 16, 1998 NBIS Meeting

Newcomb Hall: Room 481
9:30 - 10:45 a.m.

On the agenda:

POLICY ISSUES

-- "co-branding" associated with University top-level pages: do we
want to do it? What kind of guidelines should we recommend for such
ventures? The question has come up in connection with a search engine
firm that would give us their searching mechanism for free in return for a
button with their logo on the search form and a commercial banner on the
page that returns the results. See UC-Berkeley example at
http://www-resources.berkeley.edu/nhpsearch/

-- links to vendors who want to advertise commercial services
through our website to University employees and students. These would be
vendors who do NOT have a contractual relationship with the University (as
distinct from the links we provide to TIAA or QualChoice, for example, a
companies under contract to provide benefits to employees. We have been
approached with at least one proposal of this kind, but should consider the
policy question first.
