1. Advisory Group Membership
Sue Ellen announced that due to a recent commitment to ISP, Barbara Henry from Human Resources would no longer be attending. Von Hubbard, Director of Financial Aid, will be replacing Barbara. Ron Wenger, Chief Operating Officer for the Department of Internal Medicine, has also joined the group.

2. DCS Survey Results
Much time was spent on looking over the results of the DCS Survey. Generally, the survey returned favorable results and comments. Several areas of discussion followed, including the need for LSPs to receive more targeted training on how to support Macintoshes. One topic suggested was Mac Users: How to Live in a PC World.

The area of grade levels of LSPs also generated much discussion. The survey shows a wide variety of levels, indicating there is no central guidance on the levels of these positions. It was suggested that the DCS group initiate discussions with school level senior administrators and offer assistance in looking at the LSP organization within their area. Another suggestion was the term LSP be promoted as an "idea", rather than a "classification".

A yearly session for supervisors of LSPs would be helpful, perhaps broken out LSP areas. A useful topic of discussion at such a meeting would be how to evalute technical personnel, since many supervisors have little experience in this area.

3. Feedback on Plan to Expand LSP Participation
Due to time constraints, this plan was tabled until the next meeting.

4. UCIT Update
Martha Blodgett gave an update from the UCIT meeting. Bryan Wright's comments on the draft of the Strategic Plan were discussed at UCIT and decided that these related to the implementation of the plan, rather than a change to the actual plan. Martha suggested that at our next meeting we spend time addressing Bryan's comments and that this group become proactive in the implementation of Goal 3: Leverage Information Technology to Improve Departmental and Administrative Services and Systems. This Strategic Plan can be found on the web at:

5. LSP Steering Committee Update
Dave Drucker gave the committee details of the last meeting. Theresa McMurdo gave an update to the Steering Committee on the Computing Survival Skills classes and the LSA program. Discussion followed about the possibility of certain parts of the CSS class being included as part of the orientation for all new faculty and staff. The LSA concept is a good one and needs to be promoted more.

6. DCI Update --
George Williams gave a brief update on DCI. As soon as the final details of leasing are ironed out, orders will be placed for about 450 machines.
