THE ITC

BUILDING REWIRING PROJECT

Specifics of the Building Rewiring Project

ITC worked with the University Committee on Information Technology and Communications (CITC) in order to establish a priority for building wiring. Specifics of the Building Rewiring Project include:

Rewire active telephone jacks with standard communication outlets that support telephone service,

high-speed data network connections, and optional video service. Each such outlet will include an
ITC-operated and maintained Ethernet connection that will provide network service for a single
computer. Each standard outlet also contains a spare jack that can support a second telephone
line or a second data network connection.

Install a communications outlet capable of supporting data, video, and voice in all classrooms.

Activate and maintain the classroom data and video jacks.

Install optional video connections in departmental conference rooms, as requested.

This service is available to departments for a one-time charge based on labor and materials costs.

Install ethernet cards and connecting cables in computers, as requested. This service

is available to departments for a one-time charge based on labor and materials costs.

Install additional standard communications outlets in offices, as requested. Outlet installation

is available to departments for a one-time charge based on labor and materials costs. Several
options exist for the activation and maintenance of data jacks that are not associated with telephones.
