THE ITC

BUILDING REWIRING PROJECT

Related Information

The network infrastructure being installed in your building, as part of this project, is designed to meet the general needs of most depatments. Departments with requirements for specialized capabilities should contact ITC to discuss alternative network configurations.

Loans

If requested, ITC will install all optional network capacity requested by your department and delay
billing until the start of the nest fiscal year.

Training

The Division of User Support will be involved in the Building Rewiring Project and will provide training
on use of network software if needed.

Maintenance

Maintenance is covered by ITC for communications outlets that are associated with existing telephone (voice) service. Data-only communications outlets will carry a monthly charge of $5 per month. Monthly charges will begin at the start of the start of the 1997-1998 fiscal year and will be billed on an annual basis. There will not be a monthly charge for inactive outlets installed as part of this project.

Schedule

The overall process is most buildings takes just a few weeks once the actual wiring has begun. In areas where old cables can be left in place, you will be able to continue to use old Ethernet cards during the transitional period. In buildings where this is not possible, we will work with you to schedule installation of new Ethernet cards concurrent with our other work.
