BUILDING REWIRING PROJECT

Benefits of the Building Rewiring Project

This project represents a major step into the future for all of us.
As the communication needs of the faculty, staff, and students of the University of Virginia continue to intensify and increase, the Building Rewiring Project will provide a communications infrastructure capable of supporting this ever growing demand. The new communications infrastructure will provide many benefits and new opportunities which were not previously available. Some of these benefits and opportunities include:

Significant network reliability enhancements.

Network connections for buildings not previously attached to the university backbone.

Greatly increased network backbone capacity and reliability.

Creation of a data network which is uniform throughout the University.

Increased ease of maintainability and manageability at a more reasonable cost.
