NetBadge: How To Log Out

When you are finished browsing personalized U.Va. Web sites such as MyU.Va. and WebMail, always remember to log out of these sites and the U.Va. NetBadge service before leaving your computer. To do so, completely exit your Web browser. This is the best way to prevent others from accessing your personal information and visiting Web sites using your U.Va. NetBadge as if they were you.

How to exit most common Web browsers:

Platform Web Browser How To Exit Completely
Microsoft Windows Internet Explorer Close all Internet Explorer windows by clicking each window's close box or on the File menu select Close (shortcut key Ctrl+W). You must do this for each and every Internet Explorer window.
Netscape/Mozilla/Firefox On the File menu select Exit (shortcut key Ctrl+Q).
Macintosh (OS X) Safari On the Safari menu select Quit (Shortcut key Command+Q)
Firefox On the Firefox menu select Quit (Shortcut key Command+Q)
Netscape On the Netscape menu select Quit (Shortcut key Command+Q)
Internet Explorer On the Explorer menu select Quit (Shortcut key Command+Q)
Macintosh (OS 9) Internet Explorer On the File menu select Quit (shortcut key Command+Q). Also, if either Outlook Express or Entourage is open, you must quit it too.
Netscape On the File menu select Quit (shortcut key Command+Q).
Unix Netscape On the File menu select Exit (shortcut key Alt+Q).

If you cannot exit your Web browser, use these two steps to log out:

  1. If you did not log out of each NetBadge-protected web site you visited this session, revisit each site and make sure you are logged out.
  2. Log out of the NetBadge service itself, and thereby end your "single sign-in" period, by clicking the button below:
