UVa's Microsoft Contracts

Select Contract Usage Information

Home Use

Covered Personnel

All academic and administrative departments at UVa, the UVa Health Sciences Center, and UVa-affiliated institutes, centers and associations may purchase software licenses through the UVa Microsoft Select Contract. Only faculty and staff may purchase software through this contract.

Covered Software Products

Only the following software is eligible for Work-at-Home licensing under this contract:

  • Microsoft Office (Macintosh or Windows)
  • Microsoft Office Professional (Macintosh or Windows)

Required Conditions for Home Use

You can install and use some software under this contract on a personally-owned laptop or home computer only if the following conditions are met:

  1. The original license for the software is paid for by UVa and installed on a computer owned by UVa located on UVa-owned property.
  2. You install a second copy of the software on either a personally-owned laptop or personally-owned home computer, but not both.
  3. You remove the software from your personally-owned computer when you leave UVa or when this contract expires (April 30, 2010).
  4. You use the Microsoft software on your personally-owned laptop or home computer to do UVa-related work only.
  5. You complete, sign and return the Select Contract Work-At-Home agreement.
