Each year, ITC hires a select number of students to serve as Student Consultants (SCs). First-year SCs typically serve as ITC representatives in their dormitories, and SCs with experience also work around Grounds in the libraries, labs, and at the Help Desk Call Center.
About the SC Program
Benefits of Being an SC
- Receive initial and ongoing paid training.
- Earn extra spending money while working flexible hours.
- Assist fellow students and other members of the UVa community in solving their computing problems.
Responsibilities of an SC
- Move in a few days early, before Move-In weekend, for SC training.
- Work alongside ITC staff on Move-In Saturday.
- Attend training during the school year on computing and customer assistance.
- Solve computing problems and direct questions you cannot answer to the appropriate person or group at ITC.
- Provide approximately 5-20 hours of tech support consulting each week. (Note: You may not work more than a collective 20 hours for the University during pay periods while classes are in session.)
- Conduct a student computing inventory. (Note: This only applies to SCs working in first-year residence halls.)

Applications will be reviewed as they are received. ITC will check references of promising candidates, and contact finalists by phone or email for the formal job offer.
