Web Mail - What's New

4 November 2003

The old Web Mail login page was disabled on November 4, 2003. It was during the early Fall to ease the transition to the new Web Mail Service, and that transition is now complete. If you have not already done so, please visit the Getting Started section of this site for tips, and begin using the new Web Mail login.

29 October 2003

Revised documentation available. The new help documents include:

  1. Site Overview
  2. Getting Started
  3. Mail Management Tools
  4. Settings
  5. Glossary

16 September 2003

  1. Added spell check to the compose page.

  2. Readded the flag options to the icon interface

  3. Changed the folder interface so one can manipulate folder-only mailboxes

29 July 2003

Information about the changes and descriptions of features follows.

  1. Text-only interface is now selectable on the Settings tab. After selection for the text interface is made, you must update via the Update button on the Settings tab, logout and then login again for selection to be active.

  2. Changes were made to regulate size of font in the various pages and tabs.

  3. Some icons and links were moved, deleted or added to facilitate use.

  4. Descriptions and labels of various icons and features were clarified.

  5. Next (message) and Previous (message) functions were added to the screen where message text is displayed.

  6. Size of compose window is now configurable on the Settings tab.

  7. The capability to edit draft copies of messages was added.

  8. Address books were modified so that new addresses added to an address book would work. Note: group addresses are not possible in this version of Web Mail, but should become available in the next release of Web Mail, which is due sometime this fall.

  9. Fixed problem associated with the renaming of mailboxes, specific to the screen displayed upon completion.

  10. Character set is selectable. Those having problems with viewing a particular non-English character set may want to go to the Settings tab and experiment with selecting Unicode (UTF-8) for either Preferred Character Set or specifying an explicit use for Unicode (UTF-8) after Use Unicode (UTF-8) for: in the Text Encoding section.

  11. Messages that appear blank may be able to be displayed by selecting in frame in the Message Viewer section of the Settings tab.

  12. Full SSL (encrypted) session is not possible in this version of Web Mail, but is a goal for the future. At the present time, the session authentication is the only encrypted part of this Web Mail, which is identical to the security provided by Mulberry.
