Postmaster@Virginia.edu

As the U. S. Postal System has a postmaster to deal with problems that arise with messages in that mail system, the University of Virginia has a postmaster to assist with message difficulties within the electronic community.

Assistance from postmaster@virginia.edu for problems can include, but is not limited to:

  • helping to find a working address for someone,
  • deciphering the often cryptic error messages that are reported by mail systems,
  • suggesting approaches to managing mailing lists and/or membership in one or more lists,
  • creation of mailing lists and system-wide personal aliases for members of the U.Va. community,
  • trying to redirect the messages that fail in their delivery to either the sender or the intended recipient, and
  • serving on the abuse@Virginia.edu team that deals with problems related to the conduct of individuals within the internet community.

Postmaster cannot resolve all difficulties and may sometimes forward your message to someone who is a better source to resolve your situation. However, should you feel that you have a problem or difficulty that we can help to resolve, please contact us at the address postmaster@virginia.edu.
