Authentication Problem Resolution
On July
23, 2002, secure password authentication (SASL) will be enabled on the
Central Mail Service. A very few Eudora users may experience difficulty
logging in to later version of Eudora after that date.
If you
use Eudora 4.2 or later, and receive the following error after July
23:

- Try logging
in again to verify you entered your password correctly.
- If you
still get the error, close Eudora and try logging in to your account
with the Web Mail Service:
http://www.mail.virginia.edu
- If you
are able to log in through Web Mail, but still cannot log in though
Eudora, visit the following web page to re-authenticate your CMS password
with the new CMS secure service:
https://config.mail.virginia.edu/passfix.html
- Open
Eudora and log in.
If after
re-authenticating your CMS password you are still unable to log in
to Eudora, please contact the ITC Help Desk at 924-3731 or consult@virginia.edu.
