Where Eudora Configurations Are Stored Most email programs (also called email clients) have a file that tells it where to find your messages. The file may contain other information about how you use email - perhaps a signature file, what type of formatting you use when you send email, etc. This file is called a configuration file. When you use Eudora for email, you need to be aware that Eudora stores its configuration file on the computer on which it is installed. If you install Eudora on your computer in your office, the configuration file for that copy of Eudora is on your office computer. If you install Eudora on a computer at your residence, the configuration file for that copy of Eudora is on the computer at your residence. If you use a copy of Eudora on a computer in a public lab, the configuration file for that copy of Eudora is on the computer in the lab. Why does this matter to you? Each configuration file can be different, especially the configuration file on a computer is a public lab, and because it can be different, you need to check it each time you use a new computer. If you only use a computer in an office and at your residence, you can configure them to work the way you need for them to work and not worry about checking their configuration files after their initial setup. However, if you occasionally check email in a public lab, or at someone else's office, and you use Eudora on those computers, you will want to check their configurations BEFORE you open your mailbox so that you can insure that your messages are not unexpectedly stored on one of those computers. |
