Objectives
After
completing this workshop unit, you will have gained the skills and
knowledge necessary to accomplish the following:
- Explain
the function of an operating system
- Summarize
the similarities and differences between the following PC operating
systems: Microsoft Windows 3.1, Microsoft Windows 95, Microsoft
Windows 98, Microsoft Windows NT 4.0, Microsoft Windows 2000
- Describe
scenarios in which each of the three current PC operating systems
(95, 98, NT) would be recommended
- Explain
the importance of isolating problems when attempting to troubleshoot
- List
four sources for technical troubleshooting support
- List
three types of computer viruses and describe the relative severity
of the threat they pose to computer users.
- Indicate
the frequency with which AV Software should be updated and describe
the process for obtaining and installing the latest anti-virus
software update
