- Email Phishing Scams Persist

Yet another phishing scam email has been reported. The message, which claims to come from "UNIVERSITY WEBMAIL [universitywebmalhelp.desk@gmail.com]," warns that "Our investigation of spam complaints shows that your email address is compromised and was used to send spam message through our University Webmail system."
This scam message threatens that your email account will be disabled if you don't reply with a list of personal information, including your email address and password. If you receive this email, delete it without replying. It is a fraud, designed to trick you into giving up your account credentials. Remember, UVa will never ask you to email private information.

- Microsoft Office for Just $10!

With UVa's new Campus Agreement, students can purchase Microsoft software for just $10 (Office 2007 Professional or Office 2008 for the Mac) from Cavalier Computers in the UVa Bookstore. UVa faculty and staff in Agency 207 may also get this software for just $10 under the Work-at-Home agreement.
- License Invoices Distributed to Departments
- The first annual Microsoft Campus-Wide License invoices have been distributed to departments. Each statement includes the license fee allocation to the department, and requests one or more PTAOs to fund the allocation. Learn more about UVa's Microsoft Campus Agreement.
- New Policy on Electronic Storage of Highly Sensitive Data Announced
- The University has issued a new highly sensitive data policy, strictly limiting the circumstances under which sensitive data may be stored on individual-use electronic devices and media, and mandating that strict security requirements be met when such storage is unavoidable. It is the responsibility of individuals to determine if they have highly sensitive data on their device(s) and media and, if so, to ensure compliance with this policy.
