WAP Application Development

WAP is a suite of specifications designed to enable Internet content delivery to cell phones, personal digital assistants, and other low-resolution, low-bandwidth (typically 9 kilobits/s), extremely “thin” devices. WAP is comprised of WML, a mark-up language; WMLScript, a JavaScript-like scripting language; WTP, a transaction protocol; WDP, a datagram protocol; WSP, a session protocol; WTLS, an SSL-like data encryption scheme for data sent between the WAP gateway and the phone; a user-agent profiling mechanism; and many other specs (for a total of 36).

ATG's WAP Development project was discontinued after the research and prototyping phases.
