SeqLab - a UNIX graphical interface to GCG

SeqLab is Accelrys' X-window interface to the GCG suite of programs

The X window system is a graphical environment for UNIX/Linux programs. The Accelrys GCG suite of programs can be used in an X graphical environment using the Accelrys program seqlab. In order to use seqlab, your local Windows or Apple OS computer requires a client program to provide an interface with the X-window application running remotely on the ACHS GCG server, watson.achs.virginia.ede. SeqLab provides all the function of the original GCG command line programs, but does so through a graphical environment instead of a command line terminal session.

How to Install an X-windows interface

To run SeqLab, you first need to install an X-windows interface on your MAC or PC.

Windows users can use eXceed, an X client available under site license from ITC. Information on obtaining eXceed and configuring an installation to access GCG is available here.

Apple OS X users can use Apple's X11 appication, which is included with Apple's current release of OS X. Instructions on using Apple's X11 with seqlab are available here.
