Resetting your Important Passwords

Your Central Mail Service (CMS) and Home Directory passwords are used to validate your identity for many computing applications. Because of this, ITC requires positive proof of identity before you may reset these passwords if you forget them. Follow the steps below to find the procedure you must follow to reset your CMS and Home Directory Passwords.

Password Changes for Central Mail Service and Blue.unix/Home Directory

Are you student, faculty or staff?

(Undergrad) To receive your accounts, did you have to take the Responsible Computing Quiz?
(Undergrad) Have you changed this from the original password you were issued?
(Undergrad) Which password have you changed?

Faculty And Staff Password Reset Procedure

Faculty and staff may reset their password(s) by:

  • contacting the ITC Help Desk at (434) 924-3731 or
  • sending an email to accounts@virginia.edu from a U.Va. email account.

Student Password Reset Procedure

Students who did not take the responsible computing quiz can have their passwords reset by:

  • coming to the ITC Help Desk, Room 116 of the 2015 Ivy Road building, with their student id.

Student Password Reset Procedure: CMS Email/Blue.unix

Students that took the computing quiz and changed their original CMS or blue.unix password can have their passwords reset by:

  • coming to the ITC Help Desk, Room 116 of the 2015 Ivy Road building, with their student id

Students that took the computing quiz and changed their original ESERVICES password can have their passwords reset by:
