Creating New Accounts

Many computing resources at UVa require the user to have an account. This document provides links to creating new accounts for those managed by ITC. Other accounts on-Grounds may be administered elsewhere - check the Related Links menu for additional types of accounts not managed here.

New Students Account Creation for Undergrad and Grad Students

The new students account creation site will give you your UVa computing ID and password to access to the following services:
  • NetBadge (Authentication, WebMail, Network Registration, UVaCollab)
  • Central Mail Service (email)
  • Home Directory (file storage, personal Web space)
  • Eservices (lab and library access)
  • Instructional Toolkit
entering undergrad and graduate students
Faculty and Staff Accounts are established on Eservices, Home Directory and blue.unix.virginia.edu for all faculty and staff. Use the link at the left to activate those accounts and obtain your ID and password. faculty, staff
New Students Account Creation for Continuing Education Students

The Continuing Education site provides instructions for setting up the following account:

Network Registration All devices (including wireless) connecting to the UVa network must be registered in order to gain access students, faculty, staff, guests with UVa sponsor

Blue Unix/Home Directory

Web pages, file storage space - account is automatically created for all users except Continuing Education students. Click on the link to the left to get the ID and password. students, faculty, staff*

Proxy Server Remote access to Software Central downloads, protected library resources students, faculty, staff
Administrative sites
VPN for Mainframe Only (Mercury) (Also Information Warehouse users without Oracle responsibilities) Log in to the Cisco VPN client prior to making connections to mercury. If you also have Oracle access, use the VPN for Oracle/Mainframe (link below) staff
VPN for Mainframe/Oracle (Mercury & Integrated System) (Also Information Warehouse users with Oracle responsibilities) Log in to the Cisco VPN client prior to making connections to the Integrated System or Mercury. If you do not have Integrated System access, use the Mainframe only section above. staff
